Manresa Retreat on the Mississippi
Convent, LA

Manresa Men's Retreat has chosen and new Phoenix Organ PT234 for the Scared Heart Chapel on the campus. The Phoenix PT234 with it's well-rounded stop list and six-audio channels will fill this chapel nicely, and  will fully support 100+ men Phoenix PT234singing hymns.  With a dark Chessnut stained oak console with beautiful re- ceess panels and generous propor- tions, it will fit perfectly into the old-world craftsman- ship apparent in the details of this historic building.  We will be working with the designers in charge of the extensive remodeling of the chapel to make this a custom installation fitting the organ perfectly to the building.  There will be a new chamber installed high up in the rear wall to accomodate 6 of the 10 speaker cabinets, with the remaining 4 AcoustiCubes being finished to match and mounted on top of the rear tie beam.  This will insure a very good mix of sound and even dispersion throughout the chapel.

Manresa is a Jesuit retreat house located in Convent Louisiana on the banks of the Mississippi River midway between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. It offers three-day preached retreats, made in silence, based on the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola. These retreats are conducted for men only through an agreement with Cenacle Retreat House for Women in the New Orleans area.

Some of the historic and picturesque buildings on the beautifully landscaped 130-acre campus date from the early 19th Century, when Manresa was the site of Jefferson College, a private school for sons of plantation owners. Between the Civil War and the Great Depression the Marist Fathers conducted the college as a Catholic school. The Jesuits Fathers purchased the property in 1931 as the site for a retreat house.
